02 - Open Heavens 2019 - Day 1 Session 2

• June 3, 2019

This Open Heavens session combines extended worship, a teaching on “the sign of the Son of Man,” and closing communion and prayer. The speaker reads Matthew 24 through 1 Corinthians 2, arguing that prophetic language requires spiritual discernment rather than a purely literal or sensational reading. God’s government, he says, must become believers’ inward disposition, not merely outward compliance or occasional religious enthusiasm.

The teaching distinguishes the destruction of Jerusalem’s temple, Christ’s coming, and the end of an age. It interprets the great tribulation in part of Matthew 24 as Jerusalem’s historical destruction, while understanding continuing tribulation as believers’ struggle against the old nature. Second Peter 3 and Revelation 6 and 8 are brought alongside Matthew’s language of earthquakes, darkened heavenly lights and cosmic change. The speaker presents these as related symbols of an approaching transition from human rule to divine government.

Other sections discuss nations’ accountability, revealed wisdom, transformation of the mind and immortality. These are the speaker’s theological interpretations, not settled historical or scientific conclusions. Closing prayers ask that the teaching become personal, produce discernment between good and evil, and bring inward transformation throughout the body of Christ.
