DOUGLAS ARUKWE. “The Intent Of The Law” Pt.1 April 15, 2019.

Douglas Arukwe • April 15, 2019

Douglas Arukwe introduces a study of the intention behind God's law. He presents the church as the community intended to reveal Jesus and express God's kingdom on earth, tracing this purpose through Adam, Abraham and Israel. The church's difficulty, in his account, is an admixture of divine teaching and human tradition that obscures God's original aim.

Jesus' confrontation with religious leaders supplies the warning against allowing tradition to override God's commandments. The Jerusalem council provides a model for elders resolving doctrinal controversy through apostolic understanding. Arukwe calls for leaders with prophetic insight and a recovery of apostolic teaching rather than further religious additions.

The burning bush becomes an illustration of the difference between an outward rule and its spiritual intention. His interpretation of Moses removing his shoes concerns dependence on God's power rather than human strength. The closing section says that Scripture reveals Christ and communicates righteousness, justice and equity. Listeners are encouraged to seek wisdom and revelation so that their reading discovers God's mind instead of producing new traditions. This introductory extract ends by inviting participation in the continuing series.
