Understanding the Times and Seasons of Redemption

The Christian journey is not merely about beginning with faith in Christ, but about continually yielding to the revelation of Christ until His life is fully formed within us. Every fresh unveiling of God places a demand upon something in us—our pride, achievements, reputation, self-reliance, desires, worldly attachments, inherited ways of thinking, and every residue gathered from living within the course of this world.

Like the elders who cast their crowns before the throne and Paul who counted his former credentials as loss for the excellence of knowing Christ, progress requires a willingness to lay down what once seemed valuable in order to receive a greater measure of divine life.

The just live by faith because faith is the continual response of obedience to what proceeds from the mouth of God; pride, by contrast, insists upon its own way and therefore makes the heart unable to receive the engrafted Word that saves the soul. Salvation must therefore be understood as a progressive work: the believer begins as one who must desire the sincere milk of the Word, but must continue growing, adding faith to virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and love until the fullness of Christ is expressed.

This progression is portrayed throughout Scripture in the tabernacle, the priesthood, the feasts, the sacrifices, the rains, harvests, garments and seasons of Israel, all of which provide a pattern and roadmap of redemption fulfilled in Christ. The tabernacle especially reveals that there is an order to approaching God: cleansing, illumination, nourishment, intercession and ultimately entrance into His presence.

Therefore spiritual life cannot be approached casually or according to personal preference; there are divine patterns, times, seasons and appropriate responses, and it is possible to be sincere while operating outside the order of God. Even prayer must mature according to this journey.

Prayer is not wrong, but prayer can be wrongly directed when it is governed primarily by survival, possessions, personal advancement or human desire rather than by the Spirit of wisdom and revelation.

The higher calling of prayer is priestly—to become occupied with God's will, His kingdom, His people, His redemptive purposes and the formation of Christ within us. This is why Scripture teaches that the Spirit helps our weakness because we do not naturally know what we ought to pray for.

Daily bread is therefore more than physical provision; it is the daily revelation and allocation of Christ necessary for transformation.

Solomon exemplified this priority when he sought wisdom to fulfil God's assignment rather than wealth, and everything else was added to him.

The believer must therefore learn to discern the season and the appropriate spiritual response, because there is an early rain and a latter rain, a planting and a harvest, and what is right in one season may be out of order in another.

Cain's offering illustrates the danger of bringing something according to personal reasoning rather than according to faith and divine timing, while Abel demonstrates that acceptable worship proceeds from understanding and obedience.

The goal is not simply religious activity, intense prayer, spiritual manifestations or even the accumulation of biblical knowledge, but the preparation of a holy habitation for God.

The Holy Spirit has been given as the seal and down payment of this inheritance, not merely so that believers may display spiritual signs, but so that He may reveal the things of Christ, work the Word into us and progressively transform us into the Father's likeness.

The place Christ prepares is therefore not merely a future geographical destination but a state of being—a people made ready as His dwelling and His bride.

We are spiritual houses being built together, kings and priests called to wear the garments of righteousness, salvation, truth, faith and the Word, and from that priestly position to pray for the saints and the purposes of God.

The veil that must now be overcome is the resistance of the flesh itself, and this cannot be accomplished by human effort alone but through faith and patience. We must therefore refuse weariness, procrastination and spiritual complacency, giving ourselves diligently to every present word, instruction and command of God, redeeming the time when we stumble and returning quickly to alignment.

Through persistent beholding, obedience, cleansing, prayer, faith and patience, Christ is increasingly formed within us until the promise is inherited: the fullness of divine life manifested in our souls and bodies, making us a prepared habitation in which God can dwell and through which He can be revealed.
