All believers are called into Christ’s royal priesthood, whose substance fulfills the shadow of the Levitical order. Priesthood is a continuing life of acceptable sacrifice: offer yourself to God and let righteousness move from a received gift into lived obedience and mature character. Reckon yourself dead to sin and alive to God, hear and obey His Word, and allow the renewing of the mind to close the gap between the position given in Christ and daily conduct. Righteousness becomes a garment when a Christlike response is the settled expression of the life. Receive correction and the pruning of self so that each living stone can take its place in the spiritual house where God intends to dwell. Seek God Himself and make intimacy with Him the center of spiritual life. Seasons of dryness can call for a deeper search and a new way of responding, rather than resentment when familiar experiences disappear. Remove the walls that even ministry, work, and blessings can create; deal with the little foxes that spoil fellowship. Practice gratitude, stillness, Scripture meditation, and attentive listening, beginning with a regular time before distractions take over. In the secret place, receive the Word personally and yield to the Spirit’s writing on the heart. Examine conference teaching in Scripture, select the truths God is particularly emphasizing, speak and pray them, and remain with them until they become practice rather than notes alone. Exercise priesthood in ordinary life and in the body of Christ. Helps, administration, encouragement, giving, accountability, and sharing truth are vital ministries; every member must contribute rather than leaving responsibility to public ministers. Be faithful with small opportunities and support others as Barnabas, Priscilla, and Aquila did. Take responsibility in prayer and obedience for the people, environments, and work entrusted to you, recognizing that a received word calls for sustained participation. Honor the work of leaders who uproot what opposes Christ and build sound foundations. Through the church’s obedient, sacrificial life, the manifold wisdom of God is made known to principalities and powers. Continue serving joyfully even when help is met with rejection, guarding the heart from resentment and remembering that the labor is for God’s kingdom.
Father, thank You for the community and teaching through which You form us in truth.
Help me reckon myself dead to sin and obey Your Word until righteousness becomes the settled expression of my life.
Search my heart and remove the walls and little compromises that hinder intimacy with You.
Teach me gratitude, stillness, and attentive meditation, and draw me into consistent fellowship with You.
Write Your laws on my heart and shape me into a living stone fit for Your dwelling.
Show me simple ways to encourage, give, support, and strengthen other members of Christ’s body.
Make me faithful in the responsibility entrusted to me and persistent in prayerful obedience.
Help us reveal Your manifold wisdom together through sacrificial lives and faithful service.
Guard my heart from resentment when service is misunderstood, and teach me to keep helping joyfully.
Turn what I have heard into practical obedience, and keep me discerning through knowledge of Your voice.
