Melchizedek | The Priesthood of The Seventh Day

Francis Isibor Snr • 1 view

Creation reveals a divine priority centered on priesthood, divine order, appointed times, and the Word of God. The seventh-day rest established at creation is significant to priesthood, extending into patterns of Sabbaths of weeks, years, and millennia. The sun, moon, stars, planets, and wider heavens were established with deliberate precision for signs, signals, and appointed feasts. Their scale and order testify that creation is not accidental but serves a purpose determined by Yahovah, requiring His people to take His intentions and His Word seriously.
God’s original intention for Israel was not merely to establish a single priestly family but to possess an entire nation of priests unto Himself. Israel’s refusal resulted in the Levitical arrangement, with the tribe of Levi serving in priestly functions and Aaron occupying the office of high priest. Yet this arrangement pointed beyond itself toward a higher order. The Melchizedek priesthood is presented as superior to the Levitical priesthood because Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek while Levi was still within Abraham, demonstrating the precedence and superiority of Melchizedek’s order.
The purpose behind creation must therefore be understood through the Creator’s Word, just as the intention of a manufactured object is discovered through its manufacturer’s manual. Genesis establishes the heavenly bodies as signs and markers of appointed times even before humanity appeared, while Psalm 19 portrays the heavens as declaring God’s glory and communicating something of His purpose to mankind. Study creation through Scripture, recognize the precision of God’s appointed order, value His Word with the seriousness He gives it, and patiently pursue understanding of priesthood and the divine purpose embedded within creation.
