Refining at the Presence of God

• February 19, 2026 • 182 views

Choose the wisdom and way of Christ, whose cross carries God’s saving and transforming power. Hunger for God himself and ask for an enlarged capacity to receive him. The feast on God’s mountain calls for more than physical attendance: bring the mind and heart into attentive fellowship with the Lord. Lay aside the inward weights and crowded thoughts that obstruct prayer, and seek his presence rather than remaining absorbed in problems. Give Jesus focused attention while praying in the Spirit. This is not a payment that purchases spiritual life; it makes room for the work already accomplished in Christ to shape the believer. Where the treasure is, the heart follows. Since you are raised with Christ, continually seek the things above and set your affections where he is. Put to death impurity, disordered desire, covetousness, and the attachments that bind identity and satisfaction to earthly things. Such devotion does not cancel work, practical service, or responsibility; it changes the center from which they are pursued. Follow the Spirit’s will rather than assuming that every acceptable opportunity or successful ministry activity must be your assignment. Let heavenly affection become settled conviction so that circumstances cannot dictate the soul’s responses. Desire Christ as the life you actually express: the wisdom of your thoughts, the direction of your choices, and the formation of your emotions and imagination. The heavenly worshippers in Revelation provide a present pattern of abiding before God, receiving the Lamb’s nourishment, and rising above the rule of earthly turmoil. Paul and Silas show prayer and praise continuing amid suffering until God’s reality transforms the surroundings. Replace worldly appetites with satisfaction in Jesus instead of merely suppressing desire. Use time once given to distraction for Scripture and waiting on the Lord, and let the declared end of the enemy’s season produce new affections, pursuits, and decisions.
