The Difference Between Work and Walk

• May 4, 2026 • 131 views

Seek a clear vision of Christ so that prayer, fellowship, and ministry lead to his likeness. Religious habits, distorted expectations, and competing visions can consume time without producing the fruit of intimacy with God. Ask the Holy Spirit to remove those veils and write God's purpose upon the heart. The goal is a people conformed to the Son, united in his life, and visibly changed in their speech, relationships, character, and service. Distinguish working for God from walking with God, while allowing the two to come together in genuine obedience. Those who abide in Christ are called to walk as he walked. As God's workmanship, receive the inward formation he accomplishes in Christ and express the good works he prepared. Bring inward character and outward service together: love already given by the Spirit must become lived love, and preaching, healing, cleaning, giving, and other acts of service should flow from God's grace and pleasure. Honor every member's contribution, refuse the pursuit of titles and recognition, and let the fruit of the Spirit authenticate ministry. Yield to God's continuing work rather than measuring maturity by activity, eloquence, or religious position. Christ is the bread of life; feed upon and experience him so that his life can pass through you for the benefit of people and creation. The image of being poured from vessel to vessel calls for a willingness to leave settled ways and undergo humbling transformation, including difficult circumstances. Trust Christ through that process, surrender the old nature to his light, and allow his work within to produce a faithful walk and practical service beyond the boundaries of a church gathering.
