Keep God’s promise before you and seek his goodness through prayer, thanksgiving and attentive obedience. Isaiah 25 supplies the community’s focus through the end of March: the Lord of hosts prepares a feast and removes the covering that obstructs participation. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom, understanding, counsel and strength to receive and apply the Word. Know the character of the God who invites you. He is merciful, gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. He remembers faithful service, yet his mercy reaches beyond the good works people can offer. Come in repentance even when you feel undeserving, and leave the timing of judgment in the hands of the sovereign God who patiently gives room for repentance. Read the Old Testament through Jesus Christ, whose light removes the veil. The guilt described under the law must be understood in the light of the cross: Christ bore sin, offered his sacrifice once for all, and remains the advocate for those who confess their sins. Look to his blood rather than allowing self-condemnation to shut you out of his provision. Receive the kindness illustrated by Mephibosheth’s place at David’s table: covenant kindness reaches a person who cannot bring himself there. Spiritual weakness and an inability to sustain the desired hours of prayer are reasons to ask for mercy and help, not reasons to abandon the invitation. Seek strength to walk in the Spirit while trusting the Lord to bring you into what he has prepared. Pray intentionally for the removal of spiritual coverings, restored inheritance, favor and deeper fellowship with God. Declare his written promises over yourself and your household instead of depending on flattery or surrendering to discouragement. The promise of God’s presence does not mean that adversity never comes; pass through threatening waters and fire with him, while entering more deeply into the life-giving waters of the Spirit. Keep reading Scripture and carry these prayers into private devotion. Receive communion in remembrance of Christ’s flesh, blood and everlasting covenant. Support the community’s revival work with prayer and giving according to the measure of your resources, and ask that adversity become a place of strength, victory and advancement in the Lord.
Holy Spirit, give us listening ears, understanding hearts and grace to apply the Word in daily life.
Father, help us keep your promises before us and partake of the goodness prepared for this community.
Merciful and gracious God, reveal your kindness to us and forgive our iniquity, transgression and sin.
Lord Jesus, remove the veil as we read Scripture and free us from self-condemnation through your finished sacrifice.
Have mercy on our households, friends and community, including those who feel undeserving of your help.
Father, send the help you have appointed to bring us to your table and strengthen our feet to walk in the Spirit.
Break the coverings that hinder our participation in your goodness; silence the accuser through the blood of Jesus.
Restore what has been lost, grant favor, and lead us into deeper fellowship and obedience.
Be with us through adversity, keep us faithful, and make the day of trouble a day of victory.
Help us continue in Scripture, intentional prayer and generous support of your work according to what you have given us.
