The word of God must be received with sustained attention, prayer, and obedience until its truth is formed in the life. Spiritual growth requires more than knowing the vocabulary of virtue: faith, kindness, patience, and the fear of the Lord must abound and produce fruit. Pray for the eyes of understanding to open, cultivate the fruit of the Spirit, and seek mastery over the weaknesses of the flesh. Love must increase with knowledge and discernment, while wisdom turns spiritual insight into an appropriate response. Serve God courageously, distinguish reverent fear from fear of the enemy, and take time to rebuild faith and strength when needed. God’s intended dwelling is a people prepared for him, with particular emphasis on the physical body as his temple. Stephen’s testimony and Isaiah’s prophecy move attention from buildings made with hands to the person who is humble, contrite, and trembling at God’s word. True worship takes place in spirit and truth, so access to God does not depend on a mountain, a sacred building, or a pilgrimage site. A place of repeated prayer can be treated reverently, but it must never become an idol or replace obedience to the word. Carry the consciousness of your body as an altar into daily life and make it available for communion, worship, and the expression of God’s power. The body belongs to the Lord, was bought with a price, and must be used to glorify him. Flee sexual immorality and refuse anything that brings the body under an alien mastery. The Holy Spirit’s indwelling prepares the whole person for God’s habitation, and union with Christ includes participation in his body, flesh, and bones. Resurrection life is the hope held before believers as they labour with God for bodily preservation from sin, sickness, and death. Take meditation seriously, let Scripture settle in the soul, and pursue living fellowship rather than remaining at the level of familiar information. The communion declaration dedicates the body to God, and the closing charge calls the community to continue receiving, praying, and practising these truths.
Father, remove every veil and distraction, open my understanding, and make your word living and clear to me.
Renew my mind, remove familiarity and hardness, and make me an obedient doer of your word.
Cause faith, virtue, patience, kindness, and the fear of the Lord to abound in my life.
Increase my love with knowledge and discernment, and give me wisdom to act on what you reveal.
Deliver me from fear of the enemy and strengthen me to finish the course you have given me.
Form a humble, contrite heart in me that trembles at your word and welcomes your dwelling.
Consecrate my body to you; free me from sexual immorality and every competing mastery.
Write your will in my body and bring my whole being under the life and government of Christ.
Deepen my meditation, prayer, and fellowship so that the truths I receive become living reality in me.
